Syria Synclaire

Sy’ria Synclaire’ is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was raised by her parents, Sally Jackson and Leroy Donhue. She graduated from Belaire Magnet High School and later attended Georgia Tech University, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications.

Sy’ria began entertaining in 1995 in her hometown of Baton Rouge. As she grew and developed as an entertainer, opportunities arose that allowed her to work alongside some of the nation’s best performers and appear on some of the most legendary stages supporting the art of female impersonation. Her career truly blossomed after she moved to Atlanta, Georgia.

In 2000, Sy’ria was introduced to Brotherhood Inc., an organization dedicated to assisting the transgender population in the Greater New Orleans area. Through this agency, she received training and education in HIV/AIDS prevention, education, and policy from the Centers for Disease Control, becoming a peer educator.

While traveling the country and entertaining audiences, Sy’ria felt a deep calling to contribute more to her community. In 2002, she relocated to New York, where she joined the cast at Escuelita, a well-known venue. At the same time, she secured a full-time position with People of Color in Crisis, a Brooklyn-based nonprofit organization focused on serving the LGBTQ+ community. She worked there as a health specialist, addressing critical health needs within the community.

Since then, Sy’ria’s passion for advocacy has grown tremendously. She remains committed to helping individuals prioritize their health and well-being, continuing her mission to create positive change.
